What You Will Do in the PADI Staff Instructor Course
The PADI Staff Instructor course includes:
• Pre-Assessment: Begin with an evaluation of your dive theory knowledge, skills, and presentation techniques to ensure you are ready for the course.
• Classroom and Practical Sessions: Engage in comprehensive training covering:
• PADI instructor development standards and procedures.
• Organization and conduct of the PADI Assistant Instructor course.
• Techniques for evaluating knowledge development, confined water, and open water teaching presentations.
• Audit an IDC: Gain valuable insights by auditing a full Instructor Development Course (IDC), observing how instructor candidates are trained and assessed.
Prerequisites
To enroll in the PADI IDC Staff Instructor course, you must meet the following prerequisites:
• Be a current PADI Instructor (or equivalent).
• Hold a valid PADI Divemaster certification or equivalent leadership-level certification from another recognized agency.
• Have completed at least 60 logged dives that include experience in night diving, deep diving, and navigation.
• Have been a certified PADI Instructor for a minimum of 6 months.
• Hold a current Emergency First Response (EFR) certification (or equivalent) within the last 24 months.
Duration
The course typically lasts 2 to 4 days, depending on the dive center's schedule.
What You Will Be Able to Do Once Qualified
Upon successful completion of the PADI Staff Instructor course, you will be qualified to:
• Teach PADI Assistant Instructor Courses: Conduct PADI Assistant Instructor courses independently.
• Assist with IDCs: Support Course Directors during IDCs, helping train new instructors.
• Evaluate Candidates: Assess instructor candidates’ presentations and provide constructive feedback.
